Verdun DBC: Guidelines
The member guidelines serve to remind members of their commitments so that the club operates smoothly:
- Training:
- All members wishing to paddle on Express or Adrenaline are required to pool paddle once per week unless a prior understanding has been reached with the coach.
- All members must inform the deputy-training by e-mail if he/she can not attend a practice a minimum of 24 hrs before the scheduled practice. This is crucial during indoor training as space is limited and this will allow for a teammate to fill the spot in the pool if you are unable to attend.
- All members wishing to paddle on Express or Adrenaline are required to follow the weight and cardio training program unless a prior understanding has been reached with the coach.
- All members wishing to paddle on Express or Adrenaline are required to participate in the fitness tests unless a prior understanding has been reached with the coach.
If a member is unable to attend the scheduled fitness test, an alternate date must be arranged with the deputy-training.
- All members paddle as part of an integrated club during winter training. Shortly after the start of on-water training, team selections will be made. All spots on each team roster is open to all members. Team selections will be decided by the coaching staff, in consultation with the deputy and general managers. The selection process will be objective, using a scorecard system that will rank all members on power, endurance, cardio, technique and time trial.
- Competitions:
- All members are obliged to attend the competitions scheduled for his/her crew unless a valid reason is given.
- All members must inform the deputy-competition if he/she can not attend a competition by e-mail, a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the competition. This is crucial as a replacement must be found and given sufficient notice to race in your place.
- Please respect all arrival and marshalling times on the day(s) of competition.
- Conduct:
- All members are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful and sportsmanlike manner towards teammates, officials, coaches, competitors, etc...
- Membership Fees:
- The deadline for payment of winter training fees is Dec 1, unless an alternate payment schedule has been reached with the treasurers.
- The deadline for payment of summer training fees is May 15.
- Competition Costs:
- All costs associated with traveling to competitions and overnight accommodations are assumed by the member.
